Dorothy Tharp Flynn, the widow of John Harley Flynn, and the daughter of the late Jesse M. and Edna Hamilton Tharp, was born in Estill County, Kentucky on November 7, 1928, and departed this life in Florence, Kentucky on August 18, 2026, at the age of 97 years, 9 months and 11 days.
She was very civic minded, belonging to various clubs and groups. She was a homemaker, loved to travel, play golf and card games, was the treasurer for the Riverview Cemetery Committee for many years, loved her friends at the Lee County Senior Citizens, and was a lifelong member of the Beattyville Christian Church.
Mrs. Flynn is survived by her four children, John Mike Flynn and wife Madeline of Lexington, Kentucky, Kenny Flynn of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Jim Flynn and wife Linda of Florence, Kentucky, and Lisa Ross and husband David of Beattyville, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services held August 22, 2026 at Newnam Funeral Home of Beattyville. Burial in the Riverview Cemetery of Beattyville. Newnam in charge of arrangements.
