Betty Lou Kilburn, age 85, of Lee County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. She was born on August 20, 1941, and lived a life devoted to her faith, her family, and the simple values of love, kindness, and compassion. Betty was a Christian and a faithful member of South Jackson Baptist Church. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and quiet strength were a blessing to all who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joys came from the people she loved. Betty is lovingly remembered by her children, Stephen Kilburn and his wife, Sharon, of Beattyville, Kentucky; John Kilburn and his wife, Liz, of Beattyville, Kentucky; Mark Kilburn of Hindman, Kentucky; and Kimberly Jewell and her husband, David, of Beattyville, Kentucky. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Keller of Beattyville, Kentucky; four grandchildren; Dustin Kilburn, Crystal Thatcher, Nikki Land and Scott Jewell. Three step- grandchildren; Chasidy Johnson, Candace Gabbard, and Caidee Pelfrey; seven great-grandchildren and14 step great-grandchildren all of whom brought great joy and pride to her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; one sister. Betty will be remembered for her gentle nature, loving heart, and the kindness she showed to others. She had a special way of making people feel welcome, loved, and cared for. Her faith and devotion were reflected in the way she lived her life, and her compassion touched the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Although her family and friends mourn her passing, they find comfort in the memories she leaves behind and in the love she shared throughout her life. The moments spent with Betty will be cherished for years to come, and the lessons of faith, kindness, and love she taught through her life will continue in those she leaves behind. Betty Lou Kilburn leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and devotion. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
